CLASS OF 2025 - SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS
Kimmoya Messam
Kimmoya has been attending Odyssey for 2 years. She is an athlete in Volleyball, Track, and Basketball and even made it to state track competition in her first year here in the United States. Her favorite thing about Odyssey is that she gets to travel to the meets or games and feels that the people she meets are amazing. She credits Ms. Jerina as her favorite teacher. Kimmoya's plans after graduation are to join the Army for four years then become a firefighter. When she is in her 40's she wants to retire and start a cooking business.
Sean Rhoden
Sean has been going to Odyssey for 9 years. He cites his hair as his most unique attribute. His favorite thing about Odyssey is the low student population. His favorite teacher was Mr. Casados because he made sure his class was fun for his students and he was always willing to help him improve his grade. After graduating from Odyssey, Sean plans to get his degree in Chemistry.
Joseph A. Glynn
Joseph has attended Odyssey for 4 years. He loves history and is a boss at video games who enjoyed being involved in ESports. He also was the Power/Electrical team lead for Musical Theater. He will miss Mr. Padilla, Mrs. Amanda, and Mrs. Irving the most. His favorite teachers are Mr. Stout and Mr. Cooper because they have both taken time to get to know him and share life lessons. He feels more personally connected to them and not just a student in the room. He also loves Mr. Pagel for being hilarious and teaching his favorite subject. Joseph's future plans include attending Universal Technical Institute in Orlando and getting a great job.
Sarah Montoya
Sarah has been attending Odyssey since 6th grade. One of the most interesting things about her is her musical talent. She has always loved instruments and music. In just 4 months of learning the Euphonium, she was able to go from beginning band to wind ensemble, the highest band. Band has impacted her life in many ways, bringing her closer to many people and allowing her to explore music and the joy it brings. She is also learning the clarinet and trumpet and is in the pit orchestra in the school play. Sarah is also in color guard for 2 years. which she credits starting her musical journey and it has taught her many lessons and brought her out of my shell. She will miss spending time with her friends, favorite teachers ,and being a part of band and color guard. Her two favorite teachers are Mrs. G (Mrs. Powell) and Mrs. Kevelin. Mrs. G has always been there through some of her toughest moments and gives the best advice. She also helped spark back her interest in science and more specifically health science. Mrs. Kevelin has helped Sarah grow a lot and has helped her through my bad moments as well. She always motivates her to be the best version of herself and to do great things. Sarah is currently enrolled at EFSC to get an Associates of Art degree. Her plans after graduation are to seek a future in the Air Force.
Stephania E Alvarez Vargas
Stephania has attended OCS for the past 6 years. The most interesting thing about her is how she seems shy, but once people get to know her they discover a caring, silly, and positive side. She always tries to bring out the best in others, make them smile, and ensure they feel comfortable. Despite being shy in certain situations, she consistently tries to be positive and friendly with her friends. Her involvement in Color Guard has made an impact on her. It opened her eyes to her passion for dance and helped her grow more comfortable learning choreography. Stephania will miss being with friends, greeting her favorite teachers, and Color Guard. One of her favorite teachers is Mrs. Kevelin. Her ability to create a comfortable and supportive environment really helped develop positive relationships with her peers. Mrs. Kevelin's dedication really goes beyond teaching as she genuinely cares about her students and supports them in every possible way. Her other favorite teacher is Mrs. Gloria, who was her ESOL teacher. She really played a role into being there and helping her improve the English language and skills. Stephania's plans after graduation are to Major in Dance. She recently got accepted to Jacksonville University and Universidad of Sagrado Corazan in Puerto Rico.
Cesar Romero
Cesar has been attending Odyssey Charter School for about 7 years now. He enrolled in Odyssey Preparatory Academy for 6th grade and transitioned to Odyssey Charter School for 7th grade and up. The most interesting thing about him is that he doesn't have a larynx and is a stage 4 cancer survivor! His diagnosis was a hard time but Cesar believes it was and still is one of the biggest blessings he has ever recieved, as it started his deep Christian faith journey, which he dearly holds on to as motivation for all that he does. He is currently a dual-enrolled student and working on completing his A.A. degree at Eastern Florida.
He will miss the supportive staff and faculty at Odyssey with their amazing leaders who greatly care about their students. The support of Odyssey's administrators and coordinators encouraged him to finish off his senior year strong. After graduation, he plans to continue working on his A.A. degree, get a job, and volunteer for local churches. Then, if all goes well, he will work on completing and obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) at the University of Central Florida.
Souha Houssamy
Souha has attended Odyssey since Kindergarten. One interesting thing about her is she can sing. Her favorite teacher is Ms.Irving. She will miss the family she made along the way with the staff. She would like to thank all who made her K-12 experience enjoyable! Her plans after graduation will be to complete her AA degree at Eastern Florida State College, then proceed to medical school to pursue anesthesiology. Her best memory of senior year is all the volleyball games with her girls.
Micah Simpson
Micah has been a student at Odyssey for 6 years. Her most admirable trait is that she cares for others. Her favorite teacher was Mr. Castro. She will miss her friends the most after she graduates. She enjoyed spending time with them in different classes, going through the daily routine, and laughing over the simplest things during lunch. Micah plans on heading off to nursing school after graduation. Her favorite memory was graduating early.
Laila Kilcommons
Laila has been attending Odyssey since 2015. Some of her best qualities are that she is very motivated and persistent. Her favorite teacher is Ms Reilly.
