This week, our School Founder, Constance Ortiz, and our Special Projects Director, Monica Knight, visited our school to chat with students and learn about their needs, hopes, and goals. Their visit has been a wonderful opportunity for students to share their perspectives and feel heard. The engaging conversations have truly highlighted the supportive and collaborative spirit of our school community. Thank you Ms. Constance and Dr. Knight!
Thanks to the help of the amazing musical theater department, Odyssey teachers, students, parents, the AVID Site Team and the incredible Zumba troop, blew away our expectations! So many had a great time dancing, laughing and glowing! The event fit seamlessly with the Odyssey mission, and we experienced several cultures based on the playlist. Don't miss the next Black light Zumba event!

On Feb 25th, a group of Odyssey Scholars in grades 8-11 traveled to Tampa to learn more about the University of South Florida. Students interested in engineering, business and education majors were able to see their specific colleges. USF is known for their medical programs including the Moffit cancer research center. They saw the many housing choices spread across the sprawling grounds including the sorority houses. This school year students have visited FIU, FAU, Daytona State, Embry Riddle, EFSC and now USF. Thank you to Mrs. Griswell!
Last week the AVID students who raised their GPA’s after hard work during semester 1, celebrated their success at the “Nacho Average Student” fiesta. Students were treated to nacho’s from Moe’s, a reflective activity, great tunes and a few shenanigans in a rock paper scissors competition called, “Egg, Chicken, Dinosaur.” Just like all teambuilders in AVID, there is an underlying connection to the rewards that come from doing hard things. We salute all AVID students on their journeys to abundant success.
Congrats to Michal Paul for finishing first in the high jump at the track meet on Sat. March 1st . He also finished 3rd in the 200 m. And congrats to Kimmoya Messam for her 2nd place win in the discus. Go Titans!
Congrats to all the students who passed their certification exams this week in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Unity, Business, HTML, and CPR! This picture is only a portion of them, so congrats to all!
Our middle school GATEway elective students embarked on a captivating journey back in time at the Renaissance Fair, where history, culture, and creativity collided! From Shakespeare plays to artisan demonstrations, they immersed themselves in the sights and sounds of this era, gaining a deeper understanding of the era's innovation and art. This field trip allowed our students to engage with history in a truly unique and interactive way, sparking curiosity and creativity that will last far beyond the fairgrounds!
