Health and Wellness News

Every month we publish a menu and on the back of the menu we provide updates and information on our Natural Health and Wellness programs.  We hope you will join with us as we celebrate Health and Wellness and provide our progress in the areas of organic agriculture, nutrition, and natural health.  Our Wellness meetings occur monthly and focus on several different areas:  (1) Nutrition/Natural Health and Organic Agriculture, (2) Creating a positive Culture for Learning and supporting the Mental Health of our Students and Staff, (3) and Fitness and Athletics.  Also, we have within our newsletter a request that our families send us pictures of themselves enjoying outdoor activities together.  Our Health and Wellness newsletter is HERE (and at the bottom of this page).  We hope you enjoy it!

College Fair and Scholarships

On Thursday, October 24, from 11 am to 4 pm, Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports will host a College Fair featuring Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to attend, but they must pre-register HERE. Students must also provide their own transportation, as this is not an Odyssey-planned trip.

Certain schools will be offering on-site acceptance and scholarships. Please see Ms. Mitchell for transcripts and test scores so you can bring them to the fair.

Proof of attendance will excuse students' absences.  Please submit the information to the front office.

National Walk to School Day

Since 1997, schools nationwide have been promoting walking to school as an alternative to driving. The annual event is intended to raise awareness about traffic safety around schools and encourage neighborhood connectivity.

Titans happily walked to school on Wednesday, October 16th. Even the bus riders were dropped off at the outskirts of campus so they could participate in this event.

Thank you to all the teachers and staff who assisted with the supervision and safety of all our students.Thank you so much for being at your post and ensuring a safe and orderly walk to school for all the kids. Your dedication and hard work significantly impacted the students' experience. Also, a special shout-out to the transportation team, Mr. Rob and Rosie, for your efforts, which are genuinely appreciated.

Field Trip to Stetson University

Mrs. Mullins’s Humanites Club traveled to Stetson University on Tuesday, October 15th.  Students attended a live lecture and interacted with the college students and the professor. Titans also went on a walking tour of the Stetson campus and ended their excursion at the bookstore to purchase some swag.  Remember, AVID and Gateway students may wear college shirts on Wednesdays and dress down on certain Fridays!

Odyssey Titans had a fantastic time and represented our school so well that the professor invited them back for her course on Piracy.  This intrigued many attendees so a return visit may be planned for the spring.

Fall Fest Planning

Today, students in the 9th grade AVID class showcased their booth ideas for the Fall Festival happening at the Eldron campus. They researched different carnival games or activities, planned it out with their team, and developed a presentation to convince others to vote on their ideas. The top three teams will create their final project and go on to the Fall Festival for families to enjoy. Students are excited to volunteer to bring our school community together.

Marine Science

Students in Dr. Caleb's Marine Science class are graphing the mean number of hurricanes from 6 different regions including the North Atlantic.

On October 29th Full Sail University will be hosting an Esports Super Smash Bros tournament here at Odyssey for students in 9th-12th grade during 1st-4th period. Winners will receive a special invitation to compete on Full Sail University scholarship and a trophy for their high school. Space is limited! Competition seats are first come, first serve.
