OCS Band in Action
Before spring break, Marli Kevelin, Director of Bands, and the OCS ensembles attended District MPA (music performance assessment). MPA consists of a prepared stage performance (3 pieces) and a sight reading component where students have a short period to study a brand new piece of music (2 pieces total, a march and an overture) and then perform for an adjudicator. This tests their music literacy and ensemble responsiveness to the conductor.
During spring break, Ms. Kevelin and a combined ensemble (made up of students from the beginning band- just started playing this year, concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble) of 60 students took the stage at the University of South Florida and performed as part of the Tampa Bay Classic Music Festival. This ensemble received a SUPERIOR rating, the highest rating possible. Way to go Titans!

Class of 2023
Senior Spotlight
Hannah Fuentes
Hannah Fuentes likes to read and loves all things Disney. She has attended OCS for the past two years, and her best memories are the MPA Band trip in October and Color Guard Districts. She enjoyed learning the choreography and developing close
friendships with her teammates. Hannah’s favorite teachers are Ms. Burke because she helps with
college information and Ms. Amanda because she helps with graduation. In the future, Hannah wants to
attend college and become a nurse.
Serenity Franko
Serenity Franko has attended Odyssey Charter since Kindergarten. Her favorite memories include the class dinner at Makotos and being crowned Homecoming Queen. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Mullins and Mr. Pagel because they are both easy to talk to and very supportive. Her future plans include finishing her AA degree and then pursuing Dentistry at Eastern Florida State College.
Devon Harmon
Devon Harmon has attended OCS since 8th grade. He has enjoyed
seeing his brothers play on the basketball team and going to track meets. He will miss all the friends he has made and is a bit nervous about entering the “real world”. Devon is currently undecided about his future plans but hopes to figure it out as soon as possible.
Congrats Titans!
