Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8, 2023, the partial solar eclipse will begin in Brevard County at approximately 1:48 pm and end at approximately 4:18 pm. The maximum intensity will occur at approximately 3:04 pm. Please take caution and do NOT look up at the partial solar eclipse without proper protective eye equipment.
The pictures below show the specific parts of the country that will experience a total solar eclipse. Partial solar eclipses differ from total solar eclipses as there is no period when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s surface. Therefore, it is never safe to look directly at the eclipse during a partial eclipse without proper eye protection.
During the partial solar eclipse, Odyssey Charter Jr/Sr will take the following safety precautions:
Outdoor transitions will be expedited and monitored.
Outdoor activities will be relocated indoors from 1:30 pm-4:30 pm.
Students will be prohibited from looking directly at the partial solar eclipse.
Students who walk or bike home should follow safety precautions
Athletic events/practices will not commence until after 4:30 pm.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS
Titan Senior Class of 2024
Alejandro Velez
Alejandro has attended OCS since Kindergarten. He is very creative and likes ceramics and painting. Another passion is baking and decorating cakes. He hopes to attend a culinary arts school that specializes in baking.
His best Senior year memory is the field trip to the art museum, and he says he will miss all of his friends that he has made at Odyssey.
James Williamson
James has attended Odyssey for six years. His best Senior year memory is going to the Vero Beach art museum with Ms. Reilly’s class and many friends. He feels the MC Escher exhibit was incredible. Mr. Stout is James’s favorite teacher because he inspires him daily with his knowledge and advice. The thing he will miss most about Odyssey is the chicken tinga. He said it is the best meal they serve, and he even canceled a dentist appointment once so that he would not miss that Thursday’s meal. In the future, James hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy or some profession involving caring for people.
Frank Ferreira
Frank has attended Odyssey for one year but has made many great friends. He also likes his teachers, especially Ms. Widmer. Frank loves athletics because it helps him stay healthy and in shape.
